Monitoring was carried out during construction work on a development site at Lapp's Quay, Cork. The entire site was excavated to a depth of up to 7m below street level in order to accommodate two levels of subsurface car parking. The excavated material consisted of relatively modern fill overlying natural silty clays and, at the lowest levels, natural riverine gravels. The fill material derives from the reclamation of the area in the early 19th century and from subsequent developments on the site. The limestone quay wall was recorded, dismantled and reinstated. No finds or features of archaeological interest were found.
