An assessment was undertaken to assess the impact, if any, of the construction of an ESB cable line across the Owenboy River at Carrigaline on any submerged archaeological heritage. A desktop survey has shown that the development area has been subject to significant human influence for several centuries. The site is situated close to Carrigaline Castle, recorded on the first-edition OS map.
The inspection, undertaken on 3 January 2003, revealed that there are no archaeological sites within the development zone.
Editor’s note: Although this work took place in 2003, the report was not received in time for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
