A spread of burnt stone (11m by 8m and 0.25m thick) and charcoal-rich soil was excavated at the edge of a peat-filled river valley on the N18 Ennis bypass. No cut features such as troughs or hearths were revealed in the excavated area, although the site was probably originally larger, having been truncated by a post-medieval drainage ditch.
