Trial-trenching was carried out at the site of a proposed redevelopment at No. 10 Bank Place, Ennis, on 13 April 2004, in advance of the demolition of buildings on the site. Two trenches were excavated centrally placed within the site, and two parallel stone-lined drains, orientated north-west/south-east and dating to the late 19th century, were revealed in Trench 2 at a depth of 0.6m below current ground level. The ground level in this riverside location had been raised significantly and nothing of archaeological interest was discovered.
