It is proposed to construct a basement in a building located to the rear of a premises known as J.J. O'Reilly's, Main Street, Cavan. The area of development is located within the zone of archaeological potential for Cavan. Testing was carried out on 6 November 2004 and consisted of the excavation of three trenches. No features or finds of archaeological interest were uncovered as a result of the testing process.
