Testing was carried out on the site of a proposed new dwelling at Donore, Co. Carlow, on 7 May 2004. The site is located c. 100m south-west of an ecclesiastical site. A JCB fitted with a wide toothless bucket was retained to open five trenches on the footprint of the proposed development. The stratigraphy was uniform across the site, with 0.3-0.4m of topsoil overlying grey-brown and orange-brown sandy clay subsoil. No archaeological material was discovered.
