Testing associated with the proposed sewerage scheme in the townlands of Ballinabrannagh, Killeeshal and Raheendoran was carried out on behalf of Carlow County Council. The development was located in the vicinity of a ringfort known as Killeeshal Fort. Trenches were excavated by machine in two sites, B and C. The sites were being considered for a new sewerage treatment plant. Site B was located adjacent to the existing treatment plant. Four trenches were excavated in the south and east portion of the site. A ditch, 2.5m wide, was recorded in two of the trenches. The ditch could be associated with Killeeshal Fort. No extant trace of the fort is visible.

Site C was located 250m to the south of the existing treatment plant. Two trenches were excavated in the site. A burnt area, 1.5m by 2m, was recorded in one of the trenches.
