Monitoring of topsoil removal at the site of a new housing development on the northern edge of Antrim town was undertaken in advance of construction. The greenfield site measured 220m east-west by 210m. There were no aboveground archaeological features noted within the confines of the development. The topsoil was removed using a mechanical digger fitted with a flat toothless bucket revealing the natural subsoil, an orange boulder clay. During the topsoil removal there were no archaeological deposits uncovered within the development site.
