The south-west portion of a burnt mound was uncovered along the topsoil-stack side of the spread for the North-West Gas Pipeline. The burnt-mound material, consisting of two layers, lay within a semicircular cut within the excavated area, measuring 6m by 2.5m and 0.35m deep. The lower layer was a black, silty clay with approximately 50% burnt stones and a moderate amount of charcoal. Above this was a black, silty clay with occasional burnt stones and a high charcoal content. No associated features were uncovered in the excavated area and no finds were recovered. Two modern drains were uncovered on the south-east side of the excavated area.
