Monitoring of the removal of topsoil was undertaken at the site of an extension to the caravan park at Ballyness, Co. Antrim. There are over 50 sites within a 2km radius of the development, with a souterrain (SMR 7:26) c. 80m to the south-east. The nature of the development meant that the topsoil only needed removal to the formation level with no disturbance to the subsoil. This was carried out using a mechanical digger fitted with a flat toothless bucket. There were no archaeological deposits uncovered during the investigation on the site.
