During the watching brief for the North-West Gas Pipeline, a stone-filled feature was noted in the south-east of field 9F08. Further clearance revealed a stone-filled, subrectangular cut measuring 5.5m by 3.5m. On the surface this had the appearance of a collapsed and infilled souterrain chamber and after consultation with EHS an excavation licence was issued. On excavation, the feature proved to be a modern soakaway 1m deep and not a souterrain or any other archaeological feature.
