At the request of Wicklow County Council, testing was carried out at Priestnewtown, Delgany, at sites identified during geophysical investigation of the routeway for the proposed Greystones Southern Link Road. Specific anomalies were identified and a strategy of testing was drawn up.
A small patch of charcoal was uncovered in the middle of Trench 8. It consisted of three small patches (of insignificant depth) sitting directly on subsoil. No finds or other archaeological evidence were recovered from the feature. It has been identified as the anomaly highlighted in the geophysical survey. It was not deemed to be of any significance.
