At the request of Wicklow County Council, pre-development testing was carried out at Priestnewtown, Delgany, at sites identified during geophysical investigation of the routeway for the proposed Greystones Southern Link Road. Specific anomalies were identified and a strategy of testing was drawn up.
The testing showed that the majority of the anomalies tested were geological features. A number of post-medieval agricultural features were also uncovered, as well as a small patch of charcoal. However, overall there was nothing of archaeological significance found in any of the test-trenches.
