An assessment took place at the Brook Lodge Hotel, Macreddin Village, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow. Monitoring had been carried out by Sinéad Phelan (No. 2088, Excavations 2003 03E0689). The proposed development consists of fourteen two-storey holiday lodges and two carparks with associated access roads. The proposed development is within the southern precinct of the historic town of Carysford (SMR 34:10). Test-trenches were excavated across the site and a spread of burnt stone (7.2m by 5m) was identified. Excavation was recommended in advance of construction. Nothing else of archaeological significance was identified during this period of testing.
