Test-trenches were excavated as part of a pre-planning assessment of the Co-op yard at Parnell Street. The site is located outside the walled town of Wexford but within an area of possible Hiberno-Norse and later medieval suburbs.

Testing uncovered nothing other than sterile natural sands beneath modern concrete surfaces and rubble fill. No trenches were, however, excavated along the site’s street frontage.
