Test-trenches were excavated within a proposed development site at Custom House Quay, Wexford, and monitoring took place sporadically between September and December 2003 during ground reduction.
The proposed development site, bordered by Anne Street to the south, Common Quay Street to the north and Main Street to the west, is within the zone of archaeological potential for Wexford town (SMR 37:32). The Irish Sea is c. 300m east. The development area was made up of modern reclamation rubble directly overlying a grey/black sterile estuarine material. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified.
