Testing was undertaken at Rosbercon, New Ross, in accordance with a condition of planning permission to construct a mixed-use development. The site is within the medieval borough of Rosbercon and was therefore considered to have high archaeological potential.
Testing of available parts of the site failed to identify evidence for medieval or earlier settlement. A single broad linear feature was identified, stone-lined on one side, which may represent a slipway or infilled drain/conduit. This feature crossed the trench at a right angle and headed in the direction of the river. An inspection of the riverbank at this point revealed a stone-built water outflow, most probably a drain.
