Monitoring was undertaken on lands adjacent to Brownswood Quarry, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, in response to the expansion of the existing quarry. The proposed quarry extension is in the vicinity of SMR 26:21, listed as a fulacht fiadh.
The monitoring brief was carried out initially by David Bayley between 8 and 9 July 2002 (Excavations 2002, No. 1909). After transfer of the licence to the writer, the topsoil-stripping recommenced on 7 April and was completed on 9 April 2003. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. In all cases, topsoil and ploughsoil directly sealed natural clay and sands.
