The proposed site is located on the north-east outskirts of Mullingar town, Co. Westmeath. The development will incorporate commercial, industrial and residential components and will cover a total area of 140 acres. Various aspects of the development have already been constructed and others have been cleared archaeologically through testing (Excavations 2002, No. 1888, 02E1301) and monitoring of topsoil-stripping (Excavations 2002, No. 1887, 02E0276). This entry outlines the results of the final portion of monitoring, in which no evidence of archaeological activity was revealed.
