An assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed road realignment development between Mullingar and Delvin, Co. Westmeath. This site was a disused laneway, on which a significant amount of soil had been dumped. This had obscured two stone walls, the significance of which needed to be determined. A mechanical excavator cleared a section of either wall. One was a simple drystone wall in a bad state of preservation. The other was rather substantial and appeared to be an estate boundary wall connected to the Rockview Estate of the Fetherstonhaugh family; it would date from at least the early 19th century.
