As part of the predevelopment assessment of the archaeological potential of the Waterford Outer Ring Road, a series of trenches was excavated within the proposed land-take of the route. Area 6 was highlighted in the environmental impact statement as an area of higher potential, with the presence of a possible enclosure and a possible fulacht fiadh. Testing confirmed the presence of a mound of burnt stones, interpreted as a fulacht fiadh, with a diameter of c. 20m. No evidence was recovered for the presence of archaeological activity at the other site.
