As part of the pre-development assessment of the archaeological potential of the Waterford Outer Ring Road south of Waterford city, a series of test-trenches was excavated within the proposed land-take of the route. Excavation commenced in late July for a period of four weeks. Under this licence for Area 7, three possible features were identified in Field 41: a trackway, a pit and a field boundary. The trackway appeared to be man-made and may have been placed there to aid access up the side of the quarry. The pit was c. 65m south-east of the trackway. These features were the only ones recorded in a distance of 700 linear metres of the route.
