This site between Chainages 1270 and 1400 on the N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road scheme was previously tested by Neil Fairburn (No. 1719 above, 03E0295). An area measuring some 12,000m2 was investigated as part of Phase 3 resolution. This work identified a fulacht fiadh (c. 5m long and up to 4m wide) and associated post-holes. The fulacht extended beyond the southern CPO line and this portion remains preserved in situ. These features were located at the lowest portion of the site, whilst a possible prehistoric circular structure (up to 4m in diameter), as well as a large irregular-shaped pit containing prehistoric pottery, were identified at the highest point of the site.
