Excavation was carried out before construction of the N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road. Testing had been undertaken here by Anne Marie Lennon during Phase 1 works (Excavations 2002, No. 1704, 02E0286). A cluster of possible stake-holes was identified during testing and the area was highlighted for resolution.
The site, located between Chainages 4240 and 4280, was in a large field almost in the centre of Site 28 testing area (No. 1828 above, 03E0292). An area measuring 40m by 13m was stripped of topsoil. Seventeen possible features were identified, including the three partially excavated features found by the previous contractor. All the features were the result of field clearance in the recent past. No finds were retrieved during the excavation.
