A 20m-long trench across the projected line of a possible enclosure in Rathmore townland, mapped as a semicircle and stopping at the townland boundary with Tombrickane (a degraded stone wall forming the eastern limit of the development site), revealed nothing of archaeological significance, nor did a second shorter trench in the proposed percolation area. The Tipperary Inventory suggests that the enclosure feature could be the result of field clearance around a rock outcrop. It would seem that this is the correct interpretation and that clearance took place only on the Rathmore side of the boundary.
