Monitoring was carried out of the excavation of two 1m2 foundation pads during the construction of an extension of a retail premises in a carpark area to the south of Bank Place. The stratigraphy consisted of a modern pavement surface overlying a 0.4m-deep layer of sand and rubble that contained modern materials. This directly overlay natural boulder clay. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered.
