Pre-development testing was undertaken on the site of a dwelling-house and associated works at Redmonstown, Clonmel, as part of a pre-planning enquiry. The development lies near a castle site identified by historian P. Lyons in the 1930s. Five trenches were opened across the area of the development. The stratigraphy uncovered in each of the trenches was similar: topsoil and ploughsoil, overlying the subsoil. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
