Testing was undertaken at this site in the centre of Cashel. It is within the zone of archaeological potential. Four trenches were opened. The most noticeable feature was the shallowness of shattered bedrock on the site. At the east part of the site, shattered shale occurred 0.3m below ground level, whereas in its west part it occurred c. 0.7m below ground level. The levels of rock coincided with the site and the adjoining public road sloping downwards from east to west.
No archaeological deposits were discovered in any of the trenches, although a modern mechanically opened cut was apparent in one of the trenches. In another trench there were high levels of disturbance, due to the presence of sewerage and water pipes and a dump of burnt material.
