Site 18 on the N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road scheme was 50m north of SMR 61:27, a moated site. It had been tested by Anne Marie Lennon in 2002 (Excavations 2002, No. 1704, 02E0286), when a small number of isolated pits were identified. Phase 2 testing by David Bonner (No. 1702, Excavations 2003) revealed cultivation furrows, drains and pits.
A 2400m2 area was subsequently topsoil-stripped between Chainage 6260 and 6300 and these features were investigated. Post-medieval ditches, drains and cultivation furrows were revealed. A number of isolated pits were recorded and, other than one pit which contained a single sherd of green-glazed medieval pottery, no diagnostic dating evidence or artefacts were recovered. These features may be associated with similar features found on adjacent Site 19 (No. 1704, Excavations 2003).
