Monitoring of excavation works for the construction of a dwelling-house and associated groundworks was carried out at Ballybeg, Clonmel. The site is near a castle (possible) and dwelling (possible). There is now no trace of the castle.

No archaeological deposits or features were located in the course of groundworks which could be associated with the site of the nearby castle. The total sterility of the soils suggested that the site had seen very little human activity and, although on good elevated ground, there was not even evidence for ploughing.
