Monitoring was undertaken of groundworks associated with a housing development near the village of Strandhill. No archaeological remains were uncovered. Agricultural furrows were identified and there was a high density of seashells in the topsoil (the site is very close to the sea). The presence of shell may have reflected the importing of seaweed into the topsoil as a means of land improvement.
