The proposed development, to consist of the demolition of two buildings and the construction of a new one, is located between Markievicz Road and Holborn Street, Sligo. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential for Sligo. Testing was carried out in December 2003. The buildings demolished dated to the 19th and early 20th centuries. The adjacent site, No. 8 Markievicz Road, was tested previously by the author with no archaeological features or finds revealed. Two trenches measuring 25m by 1m were excavated by machine to the level of undisturbed natural. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered in either of the trenches.
