The site is situated on the crest of an east-west-running ridge that gently slopes down (north) to a sea inlet at the northern extreme of Sligo town. A modern agricultural outbuilding in the south central area of the site was demolished and removed to subsoil level. Between 0.3 and 0.4m of topsoil was removed, revealing subsoil. The topsoil consisted of a dark-brown silty loam which contained occasional modern rubble and rubbish. The removal of the topsoil revealed an orangey-brown clay loam subsoil. The site produced nothing of archaeological interest.
