The proposed development, to consist of 24 houses, access and services on a three-acre site, is within the village of Gurteen, Co. Sligo, with an entrance from the main street. It is near an enclosure, to the west of the site. Testing was carried out on 1 September 2003. Five trenches were excavated. Two were 30m long and the other three were 40m, 100m and 120m long. All were excavated to a depth of 0.4–1.2m. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during the course of the excavation.
