The proposed development, a house, access, garage and septic tank/percolation area, is located outside Ballaghaderreen, on the Roscommon side. It is near a castle, situated south-west of the proposed house. Testing was carried out on 27 March 2003. Five trenches were excavated across the site. All measured 10m by 1m and were excavated to a depth of 0.4–0.6m. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during the course of the excavation.
