Monitoring was undertaken on the works associated with realignment of the N4 road between Hughestown and Meera. Six sites were identified, which were excavated under separate licences. Site 1: Chainage 6820, fulacht fiadh; Site 2: Chainage 7520, fulacht fiadh; Site 3: Chainage 7480, pit containing charred material and spread of charred and baked material; Site 4: Chainage 7480, pit containing charred material possibly associated with Site 3; Site 5: Chainage 7720, fulacht fiadh; Site 6: Chainage 7180, corn-drying kiln and possible industrial surface.
Work is ongoing on this project and no other features of archaeological significance were identified.
