The development of seven houses and works, including the continuation of a roadway at the north side of Cootehall, on flat ground rising onto a gentle drumlin slope, was monitored.

There is a large ringfort at the edge of the site. A fulacht fiadh was excavated by Niall Gregory and another recorded several hundred metres to the south-west (Excavations 2000, No. 853, 00E0393).

All of the area to be disturbed was cleared in 9–11m-wide strips and the resultant up to 0.5m of good rich brown soil was windrowed. There were no archaeological discoveries during the monitoring.
