Monitoring of groundworks associated with the development of a 32-berth marina at Ballyleague in Co. Roscommon commenced in 2002 and was completed in 2003. Monitoring of topsoil-stripping of two fields to the west of the proposed marina and of the dredging of the riverbed took place. During the monitoring of topsoil-stripping, an axehead was recovered. This was the only find recovered from the site, with no features of archaeological significance uncovered in the course of monitoring.
