Testing of a 3.08ha development site in the north-east corner of the demesne grounds of Clara House, Clara, Co. Offaly, was carried out. The site was to be developed for a mixed housing scheme. Seven machine-dug trenches were excavated. All the features uncovered were forms of drainage of modern date, probably associated with the setting out and modification of the demesne parklands during the 18th and 19th centuries. No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered.
