Testing was required at a development at High Street, Birr (SMR 35:12). The development included the demolition of a random rubble wall, believed locally to be part of the 17th-century goal. A cartographic study and testing showed this wall to date to the late 19th century. A second set of trenches was excavated to see if the goal could be found in any other section of the development site. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered.
