Following a survey in 2002 by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (IAWU) of Cloncreen Bog, a Bord na Móna production bog, a number sites were selected for excavation in the summer of 2003. These sites were identified as two tertiary toghers and worked wood in situ. A single cutting was excavated for each site.
The two toghers appear to be part of the same togher, orientated north-west/south-east. Both cuttings revealed an arrangement of longitudinally laid brushwood.
The worked wood in situ was composed of brushwood elements in no discernible pattern, some of which exhibited toolmarks.
