Testing was undertaken at a site to the rear of 73 Glaslough Street, Monaghan, in relation to the construction of an extension to the building fronting onto Glaslough Street. The area is within the zone of archaeological potential for Monaghan.
Testing consisted of the excavation of a single trench. This indicated that the original ground surface sloped dramatically from Glaslough Street west to the adjacent Peter's Lake, as a layer of fill was uncovered which was 0.3mm deep at the eastern end of the trench and 1.8m deep to the west. No features or finds of archaeological interest were uncovered.
