Monitoring took place in the core of the historic town. An early 20th-century bridge was demolished, a water main was laid in the bed of the River Boyne and a new bridge was built. Modern dredging had seemingly destroyed any material of archaeological potential and, despite the use of a metal detector, no artefacts were identified.
