Twenty-eight long, closely spaced trenches were mechanically excavated on the site of a proposed housing estate on 13 and 14 January 2003. This revealed the presence of two very truncated burnt mounds on the site. These were subsequently excavated (No. 1468 below, 03E0169). After excavation, monitoring of topsoil-stripping under the original licence (02E1812) failed to reveal any additional features.
