Planning permission was granted to construct a dwelling-house with associated septic tank and entrance from the public road at Lough Crew, Drumone. Monitoring of all groundworks was required, as the site is situated c. 100m east of the remains of a castle, SMR 15:35. The site lies west of a complex of sites in Lough Crew townland; these comprise SMR 15:36 (ringfort), 15:38 (enclosure), 15:39 (ringfort), 15:40 (barrow) and 15:41 (ringfort). The passage tomb cemetery of Lough Crew (Carnbane townland) lies further to the north-east.
The dwelling-house and septic tank were constructed at the north-east of the site where ground level was substantially reduced, to a depth of 1.5m below the present ground level. No archaeological features were exposed during monitoring and no artefacts were recovered.
