Permission was granted to attach three antennae to the Tower of Lloyd, to install a base station on the hilltop site and lay underground ducting for electrical and communications cables to and from the tower. Where the ducting trenches were thought to cross through the features of the hillfort, and in the area close to the tower, cuttings were hand-dug. The rest of the trenches were dug with a mini-digger and monitored.
The findings included a rock-dug fosse 1.5m wide, located where the aerial photos show the presence of one of the enclosing features, and a pit containing cremated bone fragments near the top of the hill. These cremated fragments were of animal origin and a 14C date is awaited on them.
