An assessment was undertaken at the site of a proposed housing development situated less than 1km south-west of Drumconrath, Co. Meath. The development is near a motte, a circular flat-topped mound defined by a slight fosse.

Nine trenches were excavated, seven mechanically. The other two were near the motte and were excavated by hand. The trenches varied in length from 10 to 30m. The sod and topsoil had an average depth of 0.33m and lay directly above the natural clays exposed on-site. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed. If archaeological deposits survive associated with the motte, it is more likely that they are located directly north and north-east of it, where a high flat area may represent the remains of a bailey.
