Test excavations were carried out on the Ballybin Road Realignment Project, at Cookstown, Ashbourne, Co. Meath (Excavations 2002, No. 1443). The project involved the widening of a section of road adjacent to an old church and graveyard, subject to a temporary preservation order at the time. While nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered, it was recommended to monitor the works.
Monitoring took place in October 2003. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
