Twelve test-trenches were cut in a field to the west of a large univallate rath and to the north of two fulachta fiadha. The proposed development site occupied the upper parts of a broad fertile ridge. No features of an archaeological nature were apparent in any of the trenches. All layers were generally uniform, consisting of a grey/brown gritty clay above a yellow/brown dauby gravel.
