This site, identified in the archaeological impact assessment, consists of a regular upright stone located near the centre of a gently sloping field, 20m outside the acquisition line of the scheme and 15m beyond the temporary fence in place during the course of the road construction.
The area of the road corridor adjacent to this standing stone was tested by removing the topsoil from a 50m by 20m area. This was excavated to the undisturbed natural using a mechanical digger with a toothless bucket. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
